Onesie Weather

I have reliably been informed through the magic of twitter that today is the first day of Autumn. In the spirit of the arrival of one of my favourite seasons I thought I'd share my favourite things about this time of year.

1. Onesies
It's nice to be able to cosy up in pyjamas made of fleece and other such materials.

2. Soup
I would probably eat soup all year round (in fact I did for 3 years at Uni) but Autumn feels like soup eating season. Preferably with a nice slice of crusty bread.

3. Good TV
I love nothing more than catching up with my favourite tv shows. September marks the return of my US favourites such as Grey's Anatomy, Dexter, Fringe, New Girl, Homeland and Once Upon a Time. I also get very addicted to the X Factor every year.

3. Books and blankets
I feel like these go hand in hand. There's nothing cosier than sitting inside, knowing that it's cold outside with a good book to read.

4. My birthday
Probably not an occasion that will make Autumn special for everyone else but my birthday happens to occur in Autumn and could possibly account for my joy at this seasons arrival.

5. The clothes
I am not the type of person who likes summer clothes. I feel much more myself when wrapped up in a cardigan and Primark's super cosy tights.

6. The countdown to Christmas
I know it's super early to be mentioning Christmas but as soon as there is a chill in the air it gets me all excited. I'll probably watch Love Actually soon, because that's a Christmas film you can watch all year round right?

7. Hot drinks
Whether or not it is weather appropriate I drink tea all year round. With the coming of Autumn I feel like it's time to drink buckets of the stuff and possibly the odd hot chocolate as well.

8. Layers
In the Summer it's all about baring your body to get a nice tan and embrace the warmth. In the colder months you can hide underneath layers. Forgotten to shave your legs? Fancy another cake? Don't worry, no one will be able to tell what you're hiding beneath those layers.

9. The colours
Orange and brown leaves on the trees. Burgundy and navy in the shops. Summer can keep it's brights and pastels, I love the colours of Autumn much more.

10. Fresh starts
I may have left education now (my first September with no return to education since being 4!) but September still feels like a month of possibilities and new beginnings. Whether it's stocking up on new stationary or getting a hair cut there's something about Autumn that makes me feel like there's the chance to start again or make a change.

Anything in particular that excites you about this season?

  1. I agree with all your points! Especially love the part about forgetting to shave your legs, or eating another cake.. I do love autumn/winter for those reasons! x
