Books I've read recently

The Night Circus - Eric Morgenstern - On the surface this book seems to be about a mysterious circus. Whilst this is the main focus of the novel it is also a love story. It's a little different from your usual story and was really well written. I loved the characters and the descriptions of the circus made it feel like you were there. I'd definitely recommend it as it really does keep you reading until the end. I would say however that I found the build up more impressive than the conclusion and found myself a little confused by the ending. This may have just been me and I'd still suggest that you give it a read yourself.

Dash and Lily's Book of Dares - Rachel Cohn and David Levithan - This book was an easy holiday read about a pair of teenagers leaving each other dares in a notebook. I enjoyed this book and as a relatively short read it was ok. It's not going to make the list of my favourite books ever but I did want to know how it all ended for the pair. It's also set around the Christmas period so it's a nice read for this time of the year.

The Rose Petal Beach - Dorothy Koomson - I'm generally a fan of Dorothy Koomson books. They make the perfect easy read and generally have a good plot. This one however is definitely not my favourite. The premise was alright and the characters were almost believable but the only reason I kept reading was to see how the murder mystery was solved. I was left a little disappointed by the result and felt slightly cheated at the outcome. It does have a few twists and turns which make it interesting enough but if you're new to Dorothy Koomson's books I'd give The Woman He Loved Before a read first.

  1. I felt exactly the same about the Night Circus. I found it beautifully written, but the finale lacked something. Which is a same as it looked so promising.
